Images Gallery: The Art of Sport intends to be a leader in the presentation of dynamic and varied sports art within the Southwest. The Gallery opened in its current location, at 1389 E. 15, Suite 124, in the winter of 2007. It is the direct result of the passion for sports, art and photography by owner, David Fisk.
“Sport art serves not only as an inspiration, but commemorates historic moments in sports,” Fisk said.
Specializing in originals, lithos, prints, giclees, photos and more, Images Gallery is a place for the unique sports gift.
“We have prints starting at five dollars, to original paintings costing $12,500. We are high end and affordable, collectible art,” Fisk said.
Featuring artists such as Steven Holland, Robert Hurst, Judy George and Suzanne DuCom, Images Gallery understands the importance of showcasing local artists. “It is important. I want to always have Oklahoma artists here, and I would always be willing to talk to Edmond sports artists.”
The Gallery seeks to encourage and support the sports art community through the presentation of new works by emerging and established artists.
Retiring in December, after 37 years of being a journalist, Fisk saw an opportunity to fill a need in Edmond. “I felt there was a need for high-end sports art. I started this business from scratch and after a recent open house, it is clear to see that the need is beginning to be fulfilled.”
With sports art ranging from football, baseball, NASCAR and golf, there is something at Images Gallery for everyone. They also specialize in art from boxing, sail boating, outdoors and much more.
So who is the possible clientele? “Anyone with wall space. There are a lot of great gifts here for Mother’s Day, Father’s Day and any other holiday. I want to continue to be the art dealer that is going to have the rare pieces that you are not going to find anywhere else.”
Images Gallery will be doing commissioned art of student and youth athletes using a few selected Oklahoma artists.

David Fisk Combines Sports, Art in New Gallery
Courtney Bryce
SPECIAL TO THE SUN
EDMOND - Many Oklahomans spend the majority of football season glued to their television sets anytime the University of Oklahoma or Oklahoma State University plays.
David Fisk, gallery owner, found a business that combines sports and art with “Images Gallery: The Art of Sport,” 1389 E. 15th, Suite 124. The gallery, which opened Dec. 20, features sports photography and artwork by about 100 artists. The artwork portrays a variety of sports, including basketball, football and golf.
“I always liked sports art and there’s nothing like this around here. It’s a niche I saw a great potential for in Edmond. There’s already quite a few art galleries in Edmond,” he said.
Fisk previously worked in the newspaper business and did everything from page design t o editing. He decided it was time to retire and start something new.
“I was just ready to enter a new phase of life,” he said. “I did that for 36 years, and I was ready for something else.”
Fisk said what he most enjoys about his new gallery is just sitting and looking at the different artwork on his walls.
“I spend a lot of time in here,” he said. “It doesn’t really get old.”
The items in the gallery range from $5 to $13,000. One of the most expensive is a painting of Roy Williams titled “Over the Top,” which was painted by Christopher Nick, a popular children’s book illustrator.
“That’s a pretty famous shot,” Fisk said.
He said the gallery offers art on commission and art searches to find a certain image. He said they can convert a photograph into a painting. In the spring, Fisk plans to commission a few artists who will convert sports photos into art for parents who want paintings of their children playing or in their uniforms.
Fisk said he has sold a lot of OU and OSU paintings, but he’s been collecting artwork from all across the nation since last summer.
“My goal is to represent some Oklahoma artists nationwide as an art representative,” he said.
Two of his featured artists include Stephen Holland and Robert Hurst, who are considered top sports artists in the nation. Fisk said Holland is the official artist for the Baltimore Ravens and Muhammed Ali. Hurst is the official artist for the Texas Sports Hall of Fame.
One of the current pieces is a painting of the OU cheerleaders’ legs by Suzanne DuCom. She paints different legs, Fisk said.
Steve Boaldin, Edmond artist, said he is submitting several paintings that feature everything from golf to baseball.
“I do a lot of rodeo stuff and a little bit of wildlife,” he said.
Boaldin said he’s been an artist for 30 years and sees the gallery as a good opportunity to do sports art on commission.
Eventually, Fisk hopes to display some of his own work.
The artwork was framed by Frame Masters. Tim Francis, owner, said his business has sold artwork and done framing for more than 20 years, but has never focused on sports.
“It’s something, to my knowledge, that is new to Edmond,” Francis said.

Stores Open in Time for Santa
By Tricia Pemberton

Two new stores are open just in time for Christmas in the Spring Creek Village shopping center at 15th and Bryant in Edmond.
Images Gallery: The Art of Sport opened earlier this week, although some construction was still ongoing.
Two doors down, Vintner's Cellar opens today.
The two stores were scheduled to open Dec. 1, but were delayed because of building permits and city inspections, plus a major ice storm, store owners said.
Images Gallery carries original paintings, drawings, lithographs, prints, Giclees, photos and art accessories.
Owner David Fisk showed off some of his favorite pieces on a recent tour through the gallery.
An original painting by Robert Hurst of a University of Oklahoma football player is autographed by Steve Owens, Billy Sims and Jason White, the three living OU Heisman Trophy winners. The painting is priced at $3,500.
A painting of golfing great Tiger Woods, by Stephen Holland, sells for $7,500.
Images also has items with much smaller price tags, such as small matted prints that range from $15 to $25.
"We have small pieces that cost $5 and pictures that cost thousands,” Fisk said.
Many pieces are autographed, such as pictures of baseball players Cal Ripken Jr. and Tony Gwynn.
The store's artwork is divided by sport. One curved wall resembles an historic Baseball Hall of Fame. Another wall is devoted to OU and Oklahoma State University football. Other walls display professional football, basketball, golf and NASCAR. The store also has an area for wildlife art.
Interspersed are antique memorabilia items such as Scottish golf clubs, old boxing gloves and wooden tennis rackets. A seating area in the back allows patrons to scan art books for additional prints not displayed in the store.
Fisk said he also can commission art.
Images is open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Wednesday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday through Saturday and 1 to 6 p.m. Sunday.
At Vintner's Cellar, co-owner Todd Hall said he's been busy getting his licenses in place and labeling wines.
"We have 22 varietals to offer right now,” he said.
For the holidays, the store is offering Winterberry, a cranberry Shiraz.
Hall said he hopes to introduce new wines every 12 weeks, and he also will bring in nonalcoholic, carbonated grape juices.
The main focus of the store, though, is for customers to create their own wines.
"We really want to introduce people to the art of winemaking and custom blending,” he said.
Customers can select juices from around the world that will be blended and fermented for six to eight weeks.
When the wine is ready, the customers come with friends for a labeling party.
The store also will host wine and food pairings, will have a wine of the week and will have a wine of the month club. For a flat monthly fee, members will be sent two bottles of wine each month, priced at about $17 per bottle.
The store also has unique accessories for sale, such as H&K Steel Sculptures, Knobstoppers, antique doorknobs transformed into bottle stoppers, and signature stemware.
Tables are in place for tastings, and sofas and chairs are paired in seating areas where patrons can enjoy wines. The store also has a private tasting room that can be rented for parties.
"If I only get all of the people to come in who have been showing up ready and waiting for us to open, I'll be happy,” Hall said.
Vintner's will be open 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday and can be scheduled for private parties.
